Back to breakfast. Lazy start to the day typing up yesterday's blog. I said ti the girls that I did t have a clue what to do today. They suggested that I got the boat to go down river to a new complex. I said I would stay and help them out lol they wouldn't hear of it. I can't tell you how happy I am with ipod in, bottle of water in my hand, sunglasses on - sheer bliss. Me and Sam Smith have a thing going on him know? He does t know it yet in fact Sam is like most men in my life - either a. Never notice/interested in me or b. Gay. Sam is the latter! Sigh. Then I had a listen to old Ed who is ginger mmmmm done my bit for them. It was getting a bit of a joke the old iPod when George as in Michael was next lol.
15b ready I get ticket and said boat. However, I think I might have to stay off boats as yesterday at the market I kept coming over all wobberly, like I was drunk lol. I thought it was because I had taken on of Dave's (thank you sweetheart lol) slow release ibuprofen tablets, but the same has happened today too! I will see if it just goes away or Google it later but I'm thinking eight hours up the Mekong on a boat may not be a good idea.
So get to my destination only to find new complex is so new it does not open until 16:00 lol! Back on boat and stop off at a place I viewed on the way up. It's new all the big swanky hotels - Sheraton, Shranghi La, Hilton = Americans! The new place I stopped off at was geared for them as it had a KFC. THIS GOT ME THINKING - I guess Bangkok is a city of two halves and it's like Marmite you either love it or hate it. I guess, in a previous life, I would have loved the other Bangkok the one with big hotels, shopping malls but never a KFC lol; but now even if I had that money I wouldn't trade it for the Bangkok I have come to love; my little hostel, Jenny's delicious food and the local stalls. But how long before will it be that the two collide and a lot of what I love is just sucked up and spat out. Here's some photos of one side of Bangkok I have seen today - then pictures of my view now. Can you see my point?
Walked from the mall to the main pier and down by the Grand Palace - I really know my way around now lol, then back on a boat to my pier. I was getting a bit hungry by then so stopped at this place that is a social enterprise and sold lovely, fresh organic food. Well recommended.
Then back at the hostel. The girls were so pleased to see me. Washing all done and beautifully folded and bus booked for airport tomorrow; they do look after me. I then got the selfie stick out lol lol. Did you hear us laughing from there! The older woman, who now hugs me every morning and night, chatting away to me in Thai is out at the moment, but I will get her lol. So here we are lol a bit of Korean tourist fun - enjoy lol ..... We did lol.
This girl is lovely, she wears some beautiful clothes. I have told her I'm going to nick them when she is not looking lol.
Ha ha this young girl is a typical teenager, always on her phone and or Facebook.
This is Sung Song she runs the show. She is so lovely and has wonderful english.
The other photo will be done tomorrow as the girls didn't come back. Also, the wi fi is not so good tonight. So just a few lines to say lovely french man who I met in Jenny's turns up at hostel. There is a Bhudda after all. He was lovely. Excellent english with that gorgeous french accent. Sigh. Anyway, Jenny's for dinner, she is just so lovely. I sat at a table tonight ih I have to tell you rge tables are in the gutter lol - seriously! Two chikdren were playing. It was so lovely. I asked, who I assumed were their grandparents if I could take their photos and it wasn't a problem. The kids loved it lol seeing themselves on my phone. You don't need to speak a language you know, if you smile it's the same in any language. The children were so funny.
So then I went to the Khosan Road for a Singerpore Sling whilst watching the bearded, non-english men go by lol. I really, really to be living in a city! Ok wi fi not working on my phone, so random pictures tomorrow.
Busy day tomorrow, I fly to Cambodia! Let the next adventure begin.
Enjoy x
FYI now have motion sickness tablets for just incases. I thought I would get them in Bangkok as it may be more difficult in Cambodia. Only I could get motion wobble off the bloody boat. Also. Cheryl, my hair is back from looking and feeling like straw to its usual self, thank you Dove conditioner.
