Day Five - Continued

IHere I am stuck at the airport! Don't you just love it when that happens? Thirty minute delay.  Oh well, there is noting you can do about it.  Had a rotten headache too.  Still wobbly lol I'm falling to pieces. I haven't got time for this lol so there was i walking past the Jo Malone counter and a bag just leaped into my trolley lol how magical is that lol. Well I haven't spent much this holiday so I thought I would treat myself .............. FYI it is only a small bottle!  So I thought shall I go get myself a drink but I was already at the gate when they announced it was going to be late so to be honest I can't be bothered to walk all the way back.

It looks a big bag in this picture lol, I promise, it is only a 'small treat'!

Well I earned that treat! Just over three hours delay for a one hour ten minute flight - aghhhh.  Got a food voucher issued anf had thirty mins t get something and eat it as the flight was due to leave at 16:00.  Crammed food down as quick as humanly possible ............ Flifght left at 17:00! Now Bangkok Airways describe themselves as the boutique airline, I agree to differ.  Firstly, and I know this may be as I am now 29 they all looked like school kids lol.  The emergency video had cabin crew dancing like a Girls Aloud video.  To the right of me were two, and one particularly loud Russian woman, aged mid twenties who, forgive me, I could have easily slapped.  She decided and it was a decision, through fits of laughter to have a panic attack.  No trust me, from one who has had the odd panic attack, these things are not funny.  The in meal flight stunk lol and I'm thinking thank goodness I ordered vegetarian. Wrong! No food for me, no notification of my request. To be totally honest, the non vegetarian food was making me feel quite ill so I was not that disappointed.

Loads of paperwork to fill in and the boutique airline which I would describe more like Primark, landed.
Now, this is where the fun begun. One of the forms was to say that i had not been to Africa etc.  two black guys in front of me were pulled over.  I mean, as if only black people can go to Africa.  Went to the counter and gave a very officious beaurocrate my papers then off to another counter to pay the 30 dollar visa fee.  Passport control best.  Eye thingy done, all fingerprints lol. Through customs, more forms to hand in, and I'm there in the arrivals hall.  Found bloke with my name on a card and off out in car park to a tuk tuk.  I cannot describe to you how busy this city is - seriously.  I saw a programme on BBC2 about a london cabbie who went to PP to drive there. It scared him and I can see why. At one point I counted the mopeds crossing in front of the tuk tuk, there were 84 at this one junction! Babies in parents arms whilst driving the moped.  The noise was unbelievable lol.  Seriously, PP is nit for the faint hearted.  Bangkok names London look quiet and PP is like Bangkok on speed lol.  I get to the Hotel and it turns out the tuk tuk driver has been waiting all afternoon for me to arrive - opps.

The hotel is like 5 star compared to the hostel.  Big bed, air con, very nice.  I can have the tuk tuk driver all day for $25 which is around £18! I'm sure they are ripping me off but it's still cheap.

Went round the corner for a meal which was ok.  Quorn thing and vegetables.  All the young people want to speak English to you. When I was coming from the airport I noticed people looking at me I don't know if it is because I am western/white, a woman travelling on her own, my blue eyes (the girls at the hostel said they like seeing blue eyes as they stand out in Asian countries - I understand that) or if it is because I'm big or maybe all if them lol.

Get back to the hotel as I was exhausted and then ............. Imodium time! I haven't had this since Skippy's revenge at Uluru! Two Imodium duly taken, two more this morning! First stop for tuk tuk driver a chemist me thinks. So just a light breakfast, coffee and toast and here I am, back in my room just waiting half an hour to see if anything happens lol lol.  Today will be a day of reflection. First stop, after chemist to S19 which was a school that the pol pot regime turned into a place where they tirtured people the. Up to the killing fields after.  Today will be difficult but it us the reason why I'm in PP as this is a major part of Cambodia's recent history.
